Donate now: Myanmar earthquake
Donate for earthquake emergency aid in Myanmar
In March 2025, the earth shook in Myanmar and Thailand. Over 3,700 people lost their lives in the severe earthquake. Six months after the disaster, the need for aid remains enormous.
Help is providing emergency relief and urgently appealing for donations for those affected in Myanmar.
Six months after the earthquake: How we help
Together with a local partner, Help provided emergency aid in the first days and weeks after the disaster. We supplied those affected with ready meals, cash assistance, and emergency shelter, supporting a total of 34,000 people.
The need remains great. Six months after the earthquake, thousands of families are still living in refugee camps, and drinking water and sanitation facilities are in short supply.
Together with our partner organization, Help is currently installing water treatment plants in emergency shelters and schools, giving a total of 12,800 people better access to clean water. We urgently need your support to achieve this!
After the earthquake in Myanmar
Earthquake strikes Myanmar and Thailand
At the end of March 2025, Thailand and Myanmar were hit by a devastating earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale. The earth shook for several minutes in both Southeast Asian countries. Rescue operations were hampered by several aftershocks.
The earthquake had particularly severe consequences in Myanmar: the epicenter of the quake was near the second-largest city, Mandalay. Houses, temples, and bridges collapsed, and roads were destroyed.
The situation in the cities of Mandalay and Sagaing was particularly dramatic: the roads were so badly damaged that rescue operations were only possible to a limited extent. In many areas, around 80 percent of the houses were destroyed. Numerous families remain homeless and are being housed in refugee camps.
Myanmar: 3,700 dead after earthquake
In Myanmar, over 3,700 people lost their lives in the earthquake and more than 5,000 others were injured. The search for missing persons was hampered by persistent rainfall.
Myanmar has been embroiled in civil war since 2021, claiming thousands of lives. Currently, 22 million people in Myanmar are dependent on humanitarian aid. Following the earthquake, vital supply and communication routes have collapsed. The situation is exacerbated by the already weak healthcare system and ongoing political instability.
The people of Myanmar urgently need support!
